    What rear end?

Does anybody know what rear end the 05 silverado 1/2 ton twd has? Dont know if it matters but its a 5.3, auto, ext. cab with a tow package.
And where is a good place to order gears from? I tried summit and they dont have anything for that year, and I really dont want to go to the dealer. Thanks.

8.6" rear end in the 1/2 ton trucks.

4wheelparts.com for gears. Drive train specialties(DTS), Randy's Ring and Pinion... just Google ring and pinion and you'll find a lot of great companies to buy gears from.

    Actually I think its a 4L65E.
I had one more question. I guess my truck has a factory locker. I can hear it pop when I lose traction and it locks up so I know its there. Is there anyway to tighten those up? Sometimes it still spins one tire around a corners.

The diff is supposed to unlock around corners. That's their design. You'd increase your chances of losing control in wet conditions if it locked around corners.

if it breaks, you build it stronger. if it still breaks then you laugh.
