Logon fiasco. Finally solved, now back to the questions -

Man that was a nightmare, at least now I've woke up, and can logon again.

My truck ('92 w/'02 TA-LS1) seems to be running pretty well, but a bit on the rich side. I am going to throw a new set of plugs in and am curious as to a brand preference. Engine is completely stock. I need to get this thing thru an emission test (PNW). Exhaust is 3", no cats, 1 muffler (Flowmaster) 2 in 2 out.

So for now, just a list of plug preferences.

Next to follow,,, the non working gauges.
Also need to get some pics posted.

    TIA,
    Jon

Can it pass without cats? Even here in TX we have to run cats in the metropolitan area. I run NGK TR6 plugs. Copper core. Price is great and they go good with N20. TR55 is a good stock replacement plug.

I haven't run it through yet. Thought I would throw plugs in first.
The reason the cats are gone is the ceramic inside was coming apart, the muffler shop couldn't get in touch with me. They felt it better to eliminate them instead of having the ceramic pieces blow into the new system.

With all that done I thought I would see if it will pass without them, but like I said should throw in the plugs. I was actually thinking NGK, TR6 vs TR55. Which run hotter?

This project is slow. But summertime play is funner outdoors than inside.

a muffler shop "removed" cats?? huh?? thats bold!
unless you got some damn good tuning it wont pass a sniff (high hc/high co)
plugs are the least of the story.
my 5.3 cant run the NGK TR plugs.. they foul too quick. went back to
OE iridiums and it starts like a champ each time. no spittin' or sputterin'.

You can do what you want, when there is no registration (the main reason was stated above). Probably not real responsable though.

I went with the NGK TR55 plugs. Not in yet. On vacation next week, so probably won't be done until after the return.

I agree "deano" it won't help. But at the very least, I'll see where it is running at.

Emission test done, outcome PASS!!! Now, no more sneaking around the backroads. Time to start finishing the guage hook-up.
First an off topic question --- suspension and dampers. I have a 4/6 drop by way of BellTech. Less the dampers. I am curious as to what dampers others are running with the approx same drop. Like maybe KYB Koni or Bilstien for the fitment. Or just stick with the BellTech gas ones ???

I used the factory 95 sensor for the Oil pressure and coolant temperature. Still need to work on the Speedo wiring and tach (I need a baker or DD for this one). I traced and marked all the wires but still need to terminate them. Of course I need to take care of other issues before I even care about the Tach/speedo....

So, you used the stock wiring to wire in the sensors to your gauges?
I have no stock wire harness (thieves hacked it up).
Where did you install the sensors on the LS1?

"RedHeartbeat" told me sometime back (Nov. '06) where the speedo and tach wire went. I have it connected into the wire he thought was it, but it is not working. I did leave it connected into that transparent white box (What the heck is that for?). I will disconnect the wire from that white box and see if that helps.

After searching back "RedHeartbeat" did not mention which wire to splice the white tach wire to.

Does anyone know what wire I would splice the white LS1 tach wire into???
(original engine was 350 so I wont need a divider)
