ok so i know this has been discussed 8 bajillion times on here (and yes i made up that number, but its alot) but once again i need to know the GAINS in the vararam intake and the volant..... both run about th esame... i will be doing the cold air tube on both where it has the extended snorkel to go near the ground.... if anyone has tested the gains from stock to just intake only i would really appreciate knowing.... .short of buying both the systems and throwing it on a dyno, i have no clue what they ACTUALLY do ...... everyone will advertise 300hp gain just by throwing on their intake... but i would like to know actual numbers....

i just bought a set of Spal E-Fans and now i need an intake to accompany it

    thanks Red for your help!!

No problem. A snorkel won't show benefits on the dyno, it depends on road speed and head wind to create your forced induction effect.

so basically..... a "cold air snorkel" doesnt do that much...... i was told one time by a guy..... yeah go ahead and buy a cold air intake, we only get 3 months of cool air in Texas and the rest of the time its 90 degrees.... i can see his point even when driving down the road with the lower snorkel thing, the air is still hot cause its 8 billion degrees outside and being a foot lower to the ground wouldnt do much... what are your thoughts on that theory??

and what about flow?? would how much air flows in affect #'s.... im sure theres not more than 5hp difference between the to honestly, but just weighing in all my options

the reason for the ram air snorkel is to force air in thus allowing the intake to have more fresh air to work with. its the same reason vararam makes their CAI come over the front of the radiator. couldn't tell you the gain differences, but u can read the horror stories on here yourself about the vararam.

yeah just made an offer for a Volant NIB for $225... we will see how that goes... if it comes through im gonna see what i can get the lower snorkel for... and then eventually get the lower airdam that volant sells... i figue there are more readily available parts for the volant rather the vararam....

I have the volant and love it. I then bought the scoop and i felt a bit more power with it. So i think its worth the money for the scoop.

IMO a turbo is the best intake

Volant is a nice piece, I have one sitting in a box in my garage that I would like to get rid of, its complete and looks like new. I bought it to put on my truck but I got a sts kit. If that deal doesnt come through let me know.

You forgot to mention the Black Magic Extreme single fan that blows like a hurricane. Talk about a single fan the does the work of duals!
