I know these things sound expensive at $199.95 but a rebuild is a lot more expensive. They claim the filter does a 100% filtration and never send the oil through the engine bypassing the filter like frams and others do. I am seriously considering one of these. Now if only we had a distributor that could supply them to us for a better price. :hint hint:

Hmmm...200 skeets is a lot of jack for something like that. Maybe at half that price.

I know what you mean about being expensive but if you've ever seen the damage done by oil contaminants I would call it cheap insurance. Hell, I'll pay $700 without blinking an eye to put power to the ground buying a posi and gears but $200 to save a $3600 shortblock? Hmmmmm.... Maybe Allen or Billy can get us a deal on these. MSRP is always too high, that's like paying sticker price for a new truck.

Both oils are good IMO. I prefer Castrol GTX oil over synthetic simply for the price of the oil vs the synthetic. I change the oil at 3000 miles along with a new filter every time. I've run GTX in engines for over 120k, tore the engine down and found no measurable wear on the moving parts using the conventional GTX oil. That was before Fram started adding bypass springs in the oil filters. That is a new feature and it leaves the door open to garbage flowing through the oil stream. In the last years I have seen more damage to bearing than I have ever seen before in the past. I'm afraid that could be due to the bypass in the filter. If you think about it the only time your filter would have so much pressure it would bypass the paper element it will be when the oil is thick and heavy at startup. All the contaminants will also be sitting at the bottom of the pan near the pickup tube when you start it up after sitting.

I would like to try one but I also would like some money off as an incentive to get me to try it.
