Ok im playing with ideas here, im know im getting a 6.0l for sure but i cant decide on the lq4 or the lq9 my plan if possible is to get between 400-500hp NA. Is that a possible number with the lq4, would it be a smarter idea to save the money that i would have spent on the lq9 and invest in parts for the lq4 to get the numbers I want or would i have to get an lq9 to even get close to those numbers NA. Also im not against the idea of super or turbo charging im just looking for the most cost effective way to acheive those numbers and it is a DD. Just trying to do some planning for the summer when i get the engine any suggestions are welcome.

If you are not going to go forced induction, I would say go with the lq9 for the higher compression.

Get a built high compression (10.5:1) 408 with heads. According to online HP calculators mine is right at 500HP. It'll carry my 4725 lb truck down the 1/8 in 8.43 seconds. Not too bad I guess. I've seen guys with a lot more engine run slower in a regular cab truck.

Running a self built 4L60E with a lot of nice parts in it. The rear is the stock 10 bolt with 4.10s and an Auburn limited slip diff.

400-450 hp is easily accomplished with an LQ9 w/ heads and cam. Cost effective I'd say that is it, but take my opinion w/ a grain of salt. I know what I'm talking about, but I rarely do anything cost effective lol. First LS1 I built made 842 hp on juice. But I have heard of quite a few F-bodys making those #'s with a 6.0L w/ heads and cam. My cousins T/A made 470 something like that. And he did it just a cunt hair over 3K, w/ him paying to have it installed.
2004 Chevy/Regency RST, 6.0L LQ4, custom built NV MG-5 tranny by local Tranny Guru, Hurst Shifter, K&N FIPK, stock Regnecy Exhaust, 3.73 gears w/ Eaton Locker, and the Magnacharger huffer topping it off w/ stock pulley... for now

Looking to meet people w/ LS1 trucks in the OKC area PM me

LQ9 N/A. LQ4 IF FORCED INDUCTION. LQ9 IS A BIT STRONGER AND HAS HIGHER COMPRESSION. LQ4 IS STRONG DON'T GET ME WRONG, JUST LOWER COMPRESSION. ITS PRETTY STRONG IF IT CAN HOLD 600+ HP. AT THE CRANK. HOW LONG IT WILL HOLD IT I DO NOT KNOW, BUT I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING AN LQ4. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I BLOW IT.

LQ9 I think has stronger pushrods other than that I can't see where any other peice would be superior than the LQ4 as far as strength is concerned. If your gonna go forced go LQ4 if not LQ9 pretty much sums it up in my book.
