I currently have an 06 SCSB with the 4.8 running a 100 shot ColdFusion wet kit. I have been kicking around the idea of swapping out the crank to make it a 5.3, but after reading some other posts I am thinking I can swap the crank and bore it out to make an LS1. Has anyone here done this before? Making it a 5.3 seems fairly simple and with the iron block I am thinking it should be able to handle the bore to LS1 specs. Am I missing something or will this work? The current setup runs good on spray but it is pretty lazy on motor alone. I appreciate any help that can be offered.

Bore out the block and toss in the rotating assembly from a LS1.

I don't have my reference books here in front of me but I believe the crank is the same in the 4.8/5.3/6.0/5.7 gen3 engines, all have the same stroke just different bores.

Oh, forgot, the 99-2000 6.0L have a thicker flange on the crankshaft than all the others. Uses old style transmission/flywheel.

Quality machine work and parts are expensive for the LSX engines. IMO get a 6L longblock and swap it out.
