Why do ricers try?

I really shouldnt have embarrassed a little Toyota Corolla the way I did this morning but he was asking for it. :flipoff: He was speeding around me on my way to work this morning and he was weaving in and out of traffic. No offense to anyone here but just cause you speed and drive fast does not necessarily mean you have a fast car or truck. So this toyota thought he was the shiznit cause it was a type S. So I did a little fly by at 60 to mess with him and lucky me we both hit the next light together side by side. Speed limit is 40 keep in mind. I throw it in overdrive because my torque is way better throughout the powerband. Light turns green so I ease into the gas so I dont start slipping and then he punches it so I punch it. I slip all the way through first and hes got about 3-4 feet on my from the slip (im guessing he was driving a stick) I couldnt here that coffee can anymore all I could hear is the power within Shelby Sue growing. Truck shifts into second and totally blows this guys pants off and I say "bye now!" I end up weaving in and getting in front of him at about 60 which was in the first 6 seconds of the race cause a big 18wheeler was in my lane so I had to take him and not crash. I let off at 80 and here he comes trying to do a gay ricer fly by so the lane turns from 2 to 1 so I step on it again and leave him about 5 cars back. Overall it was a good way to start the morning. Also keep in mind I still have my governor in my truck so I cant do more than 98 miles per hour anyways it was nice showing that little type "Slow" what it means to really drive fast. To top it off I was leaving this guy in the dust and showing him how to really drive fast in traffic doing 80 in a 40 and all of this with my front end still all banged up, bumper is all messed up and left fender crunched, my alignment isnt even right and i smoked this guy. overall

yeah i will be getting one once my truck is looking better again...cosmetics need to be just a tad bit better from my accident

You would be able to get a tune if you wouldnt have banged up your truck. It sounds like your a little to comfortable doing 80 in a 40 weaving in and out of traffic. Maybe thats why your truck is banged up. Try to keep all the fast driving at the track man. I dont even waste my time with rice cars anymore cause they get you into trouble. Street racing around here has given the hot rodders around here a bad name. Now you cant even cruise the streets on friday nights without a cop tailing or harassing you. All the guys driving wreckless are giving us a bad name with the cops. You know your gonna win so why bother with them if your gonna street race go where no cars are.

-i dont think he wrecked his truck racing.
-we are young, we like to do things that we are going to learn from
-your intrests say you like to "Waxing rice burners in my stock TBI truck" i doubt that is just on the track. you street race too, you cant say you dont
-you dont have a hot rod, you have a fast truck.
-we dont live in sour lake tx. so the cops shouldnt be a problem
-street racing is an adrenaline rush, getting a kill when they least expect it is such a wicked feeling. when your at the track, they can see what times you have, so it seems too proper when you line up next to a ricer (which i have yet to do, because i make sure i dont go when they are there)

i really dont mean to come off rude, but your 24, you know the kind of enjoyment from street racing. yes it can be dumb/dangerous sometimes, but if theres no 5-0 around, then its not going to hurt if you know how to drive.

i dont know this is my opinion, sorry if no one agrees i guess

Never forget it&#39;s dangerous. Did you see the post with the Enzo Ferarri? Stuff happens every once in a while and they were fortunate. It&#39;s very fortunate that they didn&#39;t injure anyone that had nothing to do with their desire to drive fast. I know I have done stupid things like drive extremely fast on a highway, in excess of 100. After finding out that the insurance companies will drop you like a hot potato for street racing, I decided to leave the racing to track only. They say that getting insurance after being dropped for street racing is supposed to be more expensive than if you had one DWI on your recent record.

Even back in the old days racers would block off a highway for racing so nobody would get hurt if someone lost control.

Go ahead and do what you want, it&#39;s your life, just make sure you don&#39;t affect someone else&#39;s life adversely with you actions. HAVE FUN&#33;

that was a good kill. i always get ppl wanting to race me one the hwy. ill have them till we get to 98-100 then i just let of . because i know the can get me after that. but after i get my TBS, and other stuff. ill get my nelson tune to end that friggin govenor all together. good run though man...

i didnt get in an accident from street racing...ive had that truck for only 4 months now and it was the 3rd time i raced...when i had my ranger with a 302 in it i raced constantly cause it was the perfect sleeper. i still love to race when i get the opportunity and no cops are around...plus i am young but that doesnt mean that i dont know how to control my truck...plus i got in an accident because a lady in a beamer pulled out in front of me...plus accidents happen at the track too...did you ever see one of the videos either on here or performancetrucks.net (i cant remember which one it was on) where they had a burnout contest at a drag strip to see who could peel out all the way down the track and a guy in a ferrari f430 spun his car right into a wall...or how bout the pro&#39;s when they blow an engine or loose traction and go into a wall...the risk will always be there no matter what and thats the best part of it...its the adrenaline rush...and if you worried about that kinda stuff at 24 then you dont have any fun man...look at slowprocess, bondo, ruthless, and the newguy on performancetrucks.net...i dont know all of their ages but i think jeremy is over 25 and the rest of them are probably around that age too and they race anywhere, anytime against anyone...they even race eachother at their own houses...so were just trying to have fun man...sorry if your life is boring...why else would you put money into your truck if you didnt plan on showing it off...you would get a better rep and have more people to show off your fast truck to around town then at the track...yeah the respect of other racers is nice at the track but how about having the fastest truck in town or just having a fast vehicle in general where people in town see your truck and know "hey that truck is fast, im not going to race him"...and if you truely had a very very fast truck you wouldnt need to race at all...you could just show people and they would know "hey i dont think im gunna mess with this guy"...im sure occasionally you would get someone who didnt think so and they wanted to be proven wrong and thats what its all about...you dont put all the horsepower in that engine just to waste money...you do it to use it

Every person that enters any dragstrip I have ever gone to had to agree to a liability waiver due to racing accidents just to get into the track or spectator areas. The guys at the track that wreck don&#39;t take out innocent bystanders. Every person that goes to a dragstrip knows there are inherent dangers and spectators are almost always aware when a race is going on. Most tracks won&#39;t even allow passengers in race vehicles. People out for a normal drive don&#39;t expect to have a 5000 lb missile flying by their vehicle at 100+ MPH. To compare racing in a controlled environment to street racing, that&#39;s just foolish. A very good thing about racing at the track is that a safety crew/ambulance is always there just in case. I&#39;d sure rather glance off a guard rail at a track that to hit a tree or something off the side of a street.

I&#39;m not telling you to not do it, just think about what you&#39;re doing and where you&#39;re doing it. You don&#39;t dragrace in school zones with children present I hope.

I kind of compare racing to women. I don&#39;t want to have sex with all of them. I don&#39;t start tearing my clothes off because just any gal revs her engines at me. Find something sporty and worth the effort, something worthy of your time and do her up good. If you run them all, that&#39;s not a great reputation, that&#39;s just someone who doesn&#39;t really care about quality, just quantity. When that hot and sporty one comes along she won&#39;t have nothing to do with you because you&#39;re just a race whore and you&#39;ll never sample her nectars.

well yeah its not like i go racing everyone in town and do it in public places...the i always do it out in the country where no one is...if you have never been to cali then it isnt as populated as everyone thinks...i mean yeah there are a lot of f&#39;n people in cali but 75% of them are in the huge populated towns like san francisco, LA or sacramento...i live in a farming town with NOW a population of 90,000 because it is a booming town now...but there is a place out in the country where racers go to race...and im not talking street racers im talking hot rodders...i go out there to watch usually...they block off the road so there is a total mile blocked off and they have had 1/4 mile marked off for the last 20 years and have been racing there...there are also dumb kids that go and race in public places...2 years ago when street racing kinda blew up and got huge all the kids with their daddys cars and trucks or cars that they were given when they were 16 went and raced at a place called mountain house which is now becoming another town where i work in construction...anyways 2 years ago during the summer at about midnight the CHP, Sherriffs and our local PD went out there and impounded 300 cars and gave out 500 citations...anyone that was there got a citation and any car that was there was impounded...im not stupid i saw it happening earlier that day when all the news crews were at the CHP office in town...there are dumb kids in our town and there are people that do it a different way because they dont want to have to drive 2 hours to the track in sacramento or 3 hours to infineon race way...there used to be a public track in stockton which is about 15 minutes from us but it was closed in the 70s...but there is an abandoned airport out on the outskirts of town that i want to buy when im older and turn it into a track...it would be perfect
