I found a 01 pcm that I'm about to purchase. How would I go about getting this tuned, and how much does it usually cost to get a 01 tune rather than a 99 tune?

Also is there anything special I need to check on the 01 to make sure it will take the tune better?

If you're going to get it tuned anyway, ask Allen how much to upgrade to the 2002 pcm. He'll swap you out and tune it probably for a lot better price than you buying one and then getting it tuned.

Actually getting one from a Salvage yard is the better choice. I asked Allen about this before upgrading to mine and thats what he suggested. I found one for about $50 but you could probably find one cheaper. When you get it just send it to Allen and he will program it for just the shipping cost, it'd be the same situation as a retune!

Ohhhh okay! I was thinking I'd have to buy the 02 tune, and I really dunno what the difference is. The one I found is a 01, but the dude wants $105 shipped.....ya think I could find cheaper? Not too many late model salvage yards around here. most is all old stuff.

o1 and 02 pcm's are the same thing i think...thats too much for a pcm. i would give 50 max.

old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

They are the same thing, they have the same service number ending in 411.

99-00 were the same and 01-02 were the same. The main reason Allen charges more in the tune is charge for the core, the 99 pcms are about worthless. Thats why if you get a core for &#036;50 or less and send it to Allen he will just do it as a retune and change your file over to an 01 or 02 file.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(chrisj6 &#064; Feb 13 2006, 01&#58;39 PM) </div> I have a quick pcm question. I found an 02 pcm svc # ends in 411 but out of a 5.3 suburban. Will it work in my truck?
