Cool New Project 1989 swb chevy

Got my lil brothers old truck and plan on swapping in a cheap 4.8 or 5.3 gen 4 with 799 or 243 heads and maybe to a home port and polish job, TH400 or 4L60 trans, 4.56 or 4.88 gears. 4000+ stall, cam that will pull up to 7000+rpm plan on shifting it around 8000RPM. I plan on upgrading rod bolts and rocker arms to help handle the rpm's along with the valve springs and lifter and pushrods. The truck will be gutted for light weight, cage will go in, simple wire harness no heat ac etc, flat black all over or possible rattle can camo job, factory steel wheels blacked out. Looking to do this cheap cheap cheap but reliable. Just want a fun truck to go play with this is a toy only. Any input on cam, gears etc is appreciated, traction devices preferred. I would like to lower the stance but keep a really soft ride, thinking about bagging the rear so i can soften the suspension how I want it and put a drop spindle on the front. Future plans would be to add a turbo so it would be nice to use parts that will compliment a turbo in the future, I know gears and cam will have to change but other than that it will be built with a turbo in its future probably a 76mm home made front mount....

Well that is a good deal. It is always good to have a fun, simple, low cost project around that is not a daily driver.

considering a 4.8 for the short stroke, possibly boring the 4.8 .100" over or a 4.8 crank in a 6.0 block. i want it to wrap up super fast!

4.56's big stall (4K+) and a 150 shot on a stock 5.3 with a gutted body is about as cheap as it gets and would prolly run down quite a few things on the street, this is one of those projects I've always wanted to do!! GL and keep us updated!

Cheap is a relative term. Looking at used motor. Free to me truck. I know I gotta pay for certain items. Can springs lifters position gears transfer stall and some chassis work. Looking at a 10k budget. Just not gonna b super fancy just want it faster than my 01 reg cab. I want 11's on spray or boost and 12's on motor.
