97 4L60E question about shifting hard

My wife drives a 97 4x4 Tahoe and after a long drive (1-2 hours) when you come to a stop then take off it shifts really hard from 1st to 2nd gear.
I have changed the trans fluid and filter but it still does this.

Any idea what could be causing this??

Could be worn internals, burnt up clutch discs, or a combo of many!
Has the trans had regular services? Has it got worse since your changed fluid/filter?
Fair warning when your trans is acting up and you change fluid/filter that hasn't been changed regularly then tend to go out shortly afterwards.

I have changed it on a regular basis and it has always been clean, never burnt or smelled burnt. Might just be that it is getting worn out but I am hoping that maybe by chance it might be something small to prolong the time of when I have to have it rebuilt.

you can always take it to a trans shop and have them road test it and see what they say. It should be free, never hurts to get a professionals opinion.

TPS errors can cause this issue. X2 for taking to a trans shop for diagnostics.

sounds like trans is going to max line pressure after long drive, most common cause is a po1870 code which is tcc problem easy fix, have trans shop scan if so can b fixed with a upgraded tcc bost valve assembly from sunnax or transgo for around 20 bucks, have had to fix this for several people

Is the tcc valve assembly something that I could maybe put in?? Or do you have to dissassemble the trans to replace??

Take the trans pan off and check the accumulator spring there should only be 3 bolts holding the accumulator on.it is right near the valve body but seperate from it. I had one were the spring broke giving it a hard 1 2 shift.
