So I'm driving to work and hop on it to pass a guy doing the speed limit........cuz basically i was running late for work.....Well I give it half pedal and get it up to 70 to pass..but during the pedal pushing the truck starts revving as if i just threw it down in neutral. I jab the gas a couple times and the tranny catches and I'm on my way again.
So what happened? I tried to get it to do it again, but to no avail. Is it slipping?

Hah, that sounds like someone put my tranny in your truck. Mine does that from 2nd to 3rd. Something about the shift is too slow is what I have been told. A corvette shop told me it's the trans getting ready to die a slow agonizing death if I continue to use it in performance mode.

I had the same thing happen to me about 7 months ago. It hasn't done it again, so I quit worrying about it. However, I am keeping some $ tucked aside for a tranny.
No more trucks, but this is what I used to have. 2000 GMC Sierra, 6.0L-LQ4, Built 4L60, LS6 Cam, The Other Guys Headers, 3 inch exhaust and 7 chamber flowmaster, 43lb injectors, Nelson Tuning, Drop - 3/4 McGaughys Spindles, Bell Tech Shackles & Hangers. Best time 13.59 @ 106
Same Thing Happned to me on and off seemingly forever(I figured out Pressing The tow/haul button would make it catch instantly), It was once in a blue moon kinda thing, Pushed it Reealy hard one day and it quit. 3 months later Tranny Go BOOM! 1st and reverse only. Allthough Our Driving habits are probably A Great Deal Diffrent, ..I agree it's a Good idea To keep $$ For another Trans, got my replacement @ a junkyard for $400,

my truck did that also, i tried to pass a person running like 45 i punch it and nothing i let off and it grabs, i make it 10 more miles, then have to walk like 5, crappy cell phone, anyways i stripped out my side gear in my diff, so i just replaced with a powertrax
