    Nelson Tune - Wont Start - Think I figured it out. Question

    Heres the story

    My buddy just bought a new used truck. The previous owner did a 4.3 to 5.3 swap. His truck is a 2002. Well his Nelson tune came in today and it wont start. Its not doing a security relearn, this im sure of. now my question. could it be that the engine is from say a different year model? Im sure the tune nelson sent out was a 2002 PCM. If the engine is from a 99 or 03 or something. Would the Nelson Tune for the 02 work with that motor? Is there a way to identify what year the motor is from? Like maybe the part number on the current PCM its running off of? Does anyone have a list of the year models and part numbers?

    Just "not starting" doesn't give us enough information to really help you. How is it acting?

    Well it turns over and acts like there is no spark. I didn't put the PCM in he did. I'm pretty sure he did it right, it's hard to go wrong because he put the one back on the truck that was originaly with it and it started right up. It's not doing the security relearn where it cranks for a split second and shuts off.

    Send me his name and info, I'll look up what pcm and file we used.
    For almost all mechanical throttle body swap/trucks, we use a 2002 pcm.
    I'm positive I even turned off vats with that swap.

    If it's not firing, it's probably a bad pcm or a BAD UPLOAD!

    oh ya btw, send me or erica the info and I'll get another one out tomorrow.

    sometimes when the pcm gets installed one of the pins in the harness gets pushed out. Could pull the connectors off the PCM and look to see that all of them are forward. Pull the colored covers off and its easier to see all the connectors. Also check he didn't pop a fuse somehow. If he puts the stock PCM back in will it run?

    Yes he put the stock PCM in and it ran fine. Im hoping its just a bad flash. Allen's gonna take care of it.

    Thats cool. It happens from time to time that the tune doesn't take. With the number of core PCMs Allen gets for trade-in it would be impossible to know if one is bad until a tune is loaded in it. Customer support, A+.
