    plug wire diffrence

I changed the plugs in my 03 yukon today and one of the wires pulled apart so I stole one off of the 01 5.3 I have that to swap into my thrdgen and its short like iits barely cliped on the coil. Was there a diffrence in length for plug wires for thses years? The wire fit on the 01 motor fine.

99-02 are about an inch shorter. the cars were even shorter then that.

i run 03 wires on everything, like having the extra room to work with.

Well looks like I'm gona head to the parts store in the morning and see if I can pick up a decent set of wires. I can't tell if the plugs fixed my mis or not. At first I thought so then it started idling rough again after 30mins or so but it could be that short plg wire not getting good connection or I didn't get one snapped on good enough. :/

i know at AZ, the wires for the 03's are actually like 20 cheaper then for the 02's. Either should work though. I don't think there's any actual difference in the motors. I actually have 99-02 wires on mine now, they are tight, but fit.

Might be the coil itself. might wanna swap it and see if that helps before buying wires.

Well one ill have to buy some wires regardless since now the motor I'm using for my swap is missing a wire and it bothers me knowing I have a missmatched wire on my yukon lol. Another thing is idk which coil could be at fault. I kept all the plugs and numbered them so I know where they came out ill post pictures of them when I get off work. I didn't know what the firing order for a lsx motor was right off so I numbered them like a old sbc when I pulled each one. The driverside plugs had much more soot than the pass side plugs. I had also started blowing black smoke since this code came up and with it idling over snow the snow would get covered with soot. After I changed the plugs out today it seemed to start easier and idle smoother especialy after I let it warm up then reved the snot outa it a few times and covered the snow in my front yard with soot!

each coil is above each cylinder... the order doesn't really matter

if you're getting a po300, its random misfire, probably not any particular plug/wire/coil.

If its a Po30# that cylinder has mis. (be it plug/wire/coil). I'd do plugs/wires first. Especially with your mileage. If you still have a light, and it's a specific cylinder try the coil. Could also be an injector, thought kind of unlikely.

check your pcv, if that year still has one. I checked my moms other day, and it was missing the check valve...explains why her truck has been going thru oil between changes. That's only thing I can really think of that would cause "soot" unless you accidentally put diesel in it

Sounds like an o2 sensor crapped the bed.
