    Manifold bolt?

Drivers side rear most exhaust manifold bolt head is broken off. NO surprise! It broke more than flush in the head. Anyone got any good ideas on how to get it out? Without removing the head?? Ps bolt broken as well but its still sticking out, so weld and nut it is. Any help with getting at the rear drivers though would be great. Thanks for the help!!

we usually will use a 90 degree drill with a sharp drill bit and a bolt extractor, be sure to heat up the bolt first with a small torch then it will break loose with the extractor..if all esle fails you can remove head in less than 20 min.

thats the worst possible place for a broken bolt to be, pulling the head may be the only choice just because there isnt any room there. if you can fit a bolt extractor in there I would try that first though

usually you can fit and extractor if you remove steering shaft from column it just a 13mm nut and 15mm bolt head and it can be removed

Are these manifold bolts breaking a common problem with these engines?

yep had 3 on my lq4,i just pulled the motor and tranny out some and started drilling, used a 5/16th cobalt dewalt bit from lowes and it cut like a charm, use a smaller ease out, none gave me any problems, you also can drive in a torque bit and use a rachet
