will a 4L60 out of an 02 f-body retrofit or swap over to a 94 rcsb 4.3 that already has a 4l60 in it. what will it take to make it fit?
    thanks

Ouch, that sounds like more work than it's worth. You could take both transmissions to a shop and have them switch a lot of parts around or you could just sell the LS1 transmission for some cash, $500 or more, to pay to rebuild the one you have. I have never heard of anyone putting a newer trans in the older vehicles. The electronic valve body would be really tough to migrate backwards. The torque convertor, input drum and front pump are incompatible with the older non-LS1 type engines.
Your best bet is to rebuild what you have or find a good used trans in a yard somewhere.

Man, are you glutten for punishment or what? I like your enthusiasm about trying to work with what you have but you'll have a hard time and spend a lot more money most likely trying to patch that mess together, IMO.

some people say i am a glutten for punishment. im taking trig, physics and comp. II right now. you said i would have to migrate the electronic valve body backwards. what do you meen? i thought all 4L60E's had electronic valve bodies. my tranny is a 4L60E and says M30 on the side of it. did they change the 4L60E since they started making them?
    thanks
    im slightly confuzled

You may be able to switch your valve body over to the newer transmission. Compare the computer plugs and location between both transmissions. I have everything you'll need to convert the input drum, bell housing and pump stator to the old style if you're wanting to convert it over. I went the other direction, from old style up to LS1 type and I bought about $400 worth of parts to switch it over. All the parts I took out only had 8000 miles on them and are like new off of a 2002 4L60E. What it really gets down to is to just start taking off your LS1 transmission bell housing, front pump and input drum out and replacing them with the part from a V6 transmission parts and pieces. The pump stator will have to be pressed out and the shorter stator will have to be pressed in. The input drum will need all the goodies inside your 300mm unit taken out and put into the old style input drum. You'll probably have to switch out the valve body from the old trans but am not sure. Maybe one of our tranny gurus can step in here and fill in the blanks.

    No.

TCC lockup is different and the newer one has a removeable bellhousing AND a 33 spline input shaft that will not work with your torque converter.

    Damn, that says it all!!!

I have all the parts to convert the LS1 trans over but by the time you buy it all and pay someone to do the work you might as well have your original rebuilt. Like I originally said, sell the LS1 trans to help offset the cost of your rebuild. Your converter will need rebuilt or at least flushed. If your trans has gone out, DO NOT reuse the converter without having it rebuilt or flushed. Be sure you flush the transmission coolant lines, too, or junk from the dead trans will infiltrate your new trans and it's life could be shortened.
