    Question 2001 5.3 crank into 2008 4.8 short block

So im thinking about picking up a low mile 4.8 out of a 08 truck and swapping my 5.3 crank into it. Are there any problems with this? Sensors etc that will need to be moved around? If its a big pain ill go another direction. Just thought it would give me a bump in compression and a fresh short block to beat on...

it can be done, you have to swap your rods, too, and should have the engine rebalanced. The cam sensor will now be on the front timing cover and you'll have to extend the wires or buy an extension to connect to the pickup on the front timing cover. You'll also have to swap your cam over and get a timing cam gear made for the Gen1 engine, the early LS2 gear I believe is the one you'll need. Remove the crappy tensioner that is in the GenIV timing chain cavity. Replace the tensioner with the plastic chain idler block, DBRODS posted the part number in Keniff's swap post. Sounds like a lot of work to me, I sure hope you're mechanically inclined.

More pain than i need. I just wanted to know how simple and cost effective it would be since Stunna is selling his short block for $350
