also, how difficult is it to drill the separator plate correctly? and im assuming these two black thin sheets with holes are gaskets of some sort. But which one do i use? One has a "C" cut into it and the other has a "V" cut into it

be sure you use exactly the same gasket as what comes out of your transmission. Use the wrong one and it's disaster for the clutches.

The gold band shims go between the 4th and 2nd servo covers. You might only get one in there. Just makes sure that your output shaft turns in both directions when you are done and also that the snap ring is fully seated in the case. Note it will turn harder clockwise.
The C and V stand for case side and valve body side. Did you get directions with the shift kit? I would suggest reading them about a dozen times before you start. Good luck with the install. Vince
Goodbye from Vince @ FLT thread.http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/racers...vince-flt.html
thanks vince. yes i did get instructions and it way over my head the first time i read it then i read it three more times and it seems like a breeze. Thanks for clearing up the gasket problem. now one more thing, how difficult is it to accurately drill the separator plate?

Its very easy. The kit should have come will 2 drill bits .083 & .092 if i remember correctly. I used the larger bit size for my plate. Just use the diagram and take your time to mark each hole and then drill then out and then sand around the hole to make sure there are no burs and its smooth. Simple as pie..
k thanks green monster, and yea those are the sizes. So you used the .092 for every hole?

Sure did....... the shift kit is easy just take ur time and do one step at a time and you will be ok, took me about 4 hours to do the whole HD-2 shift kit. Dont rush..
The main thing is DO NOT lose the check balls. As stated before just take your time and don't rush it. Plan a day for it and do a little at a time. I have done enough now that it is like an art, but if you rush it or get pissed that is when bad things happen.

You know your truck sounds good when cops ask you to get on it.
