    99 Silverado with stock 5.3

    Hello all,

I have the lovely truck listed above that I am planning to mod up a bit here shortly. I was wanting to put a LS1 that came from a 2000 camaro SS, but wasn't sure about a couple of things. Does out intake bolt up directly to this engine. Also, i wanted to supercharge this engine, what supercharger would i go with the one for the original truck engine or the year for the LS1 camaro?

    thanks,

Yessir, it's a one for one swap. You'll need a tune update but it will be worth it.

Oh ok u meant "drop". Lol. So use the 5.3 accessories brackets and intake on the ls1 and order the 5.3 supercharger. So the ls1 heads have the same bolt pattern as my 5.3?

yep. The only real visual difference from a distance will be the color of the block. And up close the head casting numbers.

Absolutely. If you got the extra cash that is. Swaps can sneak up on you money wise. IMO If you have extra money, do a cam swap while the motor is out of the truck. Youll need new valve springs, pushrods, tune. I would also get a new timing chain. LS2. And some Long tube headers. O and a 3k+ rpm stall. If you buy used you can really save a lot of money. With all those mods, you will be haulin some glute.

What kind of cam and valve springs? Give me a link of what to kind of get. I don't know anything on that. So get a ls2 timing chain and new oil pump as well then. Long tubes diffenitely, I was already going to order that. Tune but of course my good man. 3k stall, can I run a 2500? The tranny shop rebuilding a 4l80 I got will give me a 25k for free but another 500 for a 3k.

All depends on your needs. If you want lots of lope, stockish idle, highest power possible, depends. you tube, ls1tech.com both have good numbers from LS1's with cam swaps. Check with the site vendors for a cam, or ebay. Ls1 cam in search. The valve springs usually depend on the cam. But patriot performance has prc duals good to .650 lift with guides, titanium retainers, locks ect for $255. Good for just about any cam that will fit without PTV clearance.
Keep lift under .620's and duration under .245
known performers of the LS1 are cams like the ''MS3'' ''MS4'' ''TRex'' ect. I personally like the MS3. Sounds nice, and proven to make over 400whp with boltons.
There is a nice used cam for sale here on this site. As well as Ls1tech, and Performancetrucks.net, and eBay Motors - Autos, Used Cars, Motorcycles, Boats, Trucks, Parts, Accessories, RVs and Other Vehicles has some nice nice deals.

I want something with a very close to stock idle. Would that require something with a 114lsa. I saw a video with a LS1 with a 228r I think but can't tell how close to idle it sounds like. So is the 25k stall sufficient?
