    Gauge Cluster replacement

I'm looking to replace the gauge cluster in my 02 Silverado so I can have a trans temp gauge. My problem is I can't be blowing 200+ on an escalade cluster. I was wondering if there was anything to look out for, problem wise, if I go hunting for an HD cluster from 00-02 in the junkyard.

Oh, ok because I found one on craigslist out of a 00 2500hd Dmax truck in San Diego. Guy on the other end swore up and down that no cluster, HD or otherwise, would work because the dealer would have to "reprogram it'. That particular one may not have worked because its diesel and the allison might have different plugs, who knows. Mileage on the display should be the only thing affected right, I can run it with little to no problems otherwise?

Plugs right in, odo won't be accurate. 03+ has to be programmed.

Cool that's what I figured as far as the plug and play thing went. Thanks. I've been checking and haven't found any denali or escalade clusters on ebay.

i called them up to ask about that and was told by a service adviser that they send the clusters out to get them programmed by some third party place. I'll have to call back and see if they will tell me who they go through.

call another dealer... cuz what happens if they were replacing it under the 70,000 mile warranty? they'd program the new one right there.

I really think that you guys are thinking of the 03+ cluster. The Escalade cluster plugged right into my truck, no programming required. If I wanted the mileage to be correct I would need it to be programmed. The original owner specifically told me that it plugged right in with no modification or programming. Same with Ryan(banker099) he has a HD cluster in his and I don't recall him saying anything about programming either.
