Can anyone tell me the difference between an 07 5.3 tahoe shortblock and a 05 gto LS2 shortblock
I need to know if the reluctor and knock sensors etc are the same...
the 07 5.3 is genIV I think the ls2 is genIII

Hopefully both engines have the crank sensor installed in the block. If the crank sensor, located just above the starter solenoid, is black its a 24x reluctor(gen3) and if its grey its the 58x reluctor(gen4). If the hole is open, look inside it and if the reluctor plate is two plates stacked its 24x and one heavy plate with evenly spaced notches will be a 58x.
