Thread: 99 Tahoe Drivetrain Problems

    There seems to be a lot of slack when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Checked U joint and there good. Anyone else have this problem or know anything about it???

    I am assuming you have the 4L60E automatic. Does a Tahoe have a two piece or one piece driveshaft? Check the carrier bearing if two piece. Now define slack. Does it just seem like it is sliding into 2nd instead of a firm shift? If that is the case, you a in for a transmission freshening. It's better to take it in too early than too late. Take it to a tranny shop and have them run a diagnostics on the transmission.

    When you first take off it acts like somethings loose or worn shifts hard kind of hard to describe Had a buddy his did the same thing but he got rid of his.

    Places like Cottman's transmissions will do a diagnostic for you for free and give you a quote on repairs.
