Damn, looks like you won't be reusing any of those parts. I wonder if all the problem started when the case failed. You will have this same problem if the tailend of the 80e is as weak as the 60e. The helical cut gears push things apart under acceleration and pull them together under deceleration, or visa versa.

Damn, that is some carnage. Yeah, like Greg said you will have the same problem if you still have that shimmy during acceleration w/ anything you put back under her. I remember when my brother completly blew apart his tailshaft on his TH350 when he had a vibration on his truck under accel. at about 80 or so. One day coming home he decided to push it well over 80 ( 110 or so ) and then BOOOOMM!!! had to go pull him in. The guy rebuilding it for us said he had never seen someone blow the tailshaft completly off before and to this day hadn't seen another like it. That was 10 years ago. Also it looks like you paid for 5 pinion but only got 4. I'd be pissed ...Zed

Honesty first? You got to love that slogan on their receipt!!! Hell, I would tell them they are going to replace the transmission for free or else we all will put the word out that they cheat their customers and you have the proof. Get the new rebuild for a trade-in or sell it to help raise funds for the tranny of your dreams.

Remember there are TWO planetary gear sets in a 4L60E. His bill is for one 5 pinion planet. So I'd like to see the rest of them internals too...
