Cool 5.3 has got to go any tips on installing a gen iv 7.4l

i have a 99 rcsb that i have been grudge racing for a few years and the 5.3 has had all she is going to take. i have noticed severe power loss, and compression is getting low... i have a preped big block that i have always wanted to put into a truck, just not this one, but i think that it is time. the new motor will be 535ci and should be somewhere around 800 hp on the spray. i just wondered if any one has any tips that i might need to complete this swap. the tranny will be a th400 w/brake. thanks for looking and i have enjoyed reading all the swap projects that everyone else has going. i just want to say i really liked my ls base motor, but i have always been a big block fan. the ls motors are strong, i should know i have been spraying my 5.3 with a whole lot of laughing gas over the years, and the only upgrades i ever did were rod bolts, cam, v/springs, fuel pump, and injectors... good luck everyone.

    big T

Where are you located? Some places call that an illegal swap, putting an older technology engine into a newer vehicle, and will never allow you to pass emissions testing. It will make the truck next to impossible to sell later down the road but would be fun for now.

    Cool

i am located in southern missouri, but this truck is far from street legal. i haven't driven it on the street for about 4 years, when i started racing it, except for a few late night high speed fly-bys i have a very good relationship with the local police, and they know me and my truck well. anyway this truck will never be sold either. it is the first regular production rcsb of the 1999 silverado. not a super collectable, but it is to me. it now has spend almost half of its life as a show/race truck. i hope to get some pics posted on here soon. i haven't ever taken time to post on here before, but have been a visitor for several years.

that is a great idea also, but i have a huge pile a big block parts collecting dust, and i really hate to see that, so big block it is. the new trany is ready and waiting the compleation of the motor, so if all goes good i should be back in business by late summer. i hope to do some late season shake down passes. i have two other projects already going so i really need to finish one of those for more shop space before really tearing into this thing.
