    broken shift cable

so i was driving through one of our picked corn fields and all a sudden i heard a thunk and noticed the shift lever move, sort of like when you put it in drive but accidently get between drive and 3rd and when you hit a bump and it goes to where its suppose to be. well anyways i crawled under neath to see what the hell was wrong because i was in a hurry. (stuff like this never happens when your not in a hurry) and cant see anything because that k member for the tranny is in the way. i didnt have time to tow the thing to our farm shop and jack it up so i called the local chevy dealer and had them tow it to their shop and fix it. so i call them back the next morning to see what the problem is. they said i broke the shift cable and 2 connectors for it. i didnt think a stub corn stalk could do that. anyone every had this happen to them?

    btw the pickup is a 02 1500hd 4dr 4x4

Yes, it happens all the time. You need a skid plate under there to protect things if you're going to be running through stuff like that.

yeah that may be, but its been through many many many corn fields, a **** ton of mud, a standing corn field a time or two. i guess all of that stuff just took its toll.

The new cable comes in two pieces but don't be temped to use only half the new one. They're not intended to be disassembled and reassembled. It's a one time click together arrangement.

Yea that happened to me a year ago at my ranch before I started modding my truck and thank god it was under warranty. It would have been like 200$ to be fixed at the dealer.
