    Question 4.56 Vs 4.10

Well my dad had the idea of go big or go home. So I was wondering will 4.56 be too much? The fastest I cruise at is 60 for about 8 miles, the rest is in town driving. My tires are 31.5 inches tall. My main concern is will my gas milage plummit w/ 4.56's? Oh stock is 3.23

I think it would fine with an automatic. Others will disagree but I like more gear with an auto than a manual. You will loose some MPG I'd say. Probably won't be a huge loss.

Im gonna run 4.10s/trutrac and I have 35" tires. 4.56s wouldnt be too bad. Or you could order some 4.30 gears? I think dale has those...

4.56 or 4.88s. Either should be fine but don't think you'll be driving over 70 mph for long trips without turning some high rpms and vaporizing a lot of oil. If you drive it on the highway you'll need some kind of oil catch can or filter.

Wait this kinda applys to me too lol...At 70mph my rpms are about 1800ish but whenever elevation barely changes and I go uphill it sticks around 2600 RPMS...If I re gear to 4.10s/trutrac it should settle down the rpms, but about the catch can and filter would it be necessary with my setup?

I believe AMW is one of the most popular cans. What happens when you run high sustained RPM is the crankshaft turns some of the oil into vapors. When the PCV valve is open, the intake draws the vapors into the manifold, polluting the intake and cylinders with oil. There are two ports in the valve covers that vent to the intake and the engine sucks all those vapors in. The engine also burns your vaporized oil and you'll have high oil consumption. If your engine RPM only goes up when you pull a hill due to the converter unlocking or downshifting to third, that's really not an issue because shortly you'll be back down to reasonable RPMs.

Would 2100RPM be to much to run for a 12 hr trip? Where does the can and filter go and how much are they?

    Accurate Machine Works

    Instructions for installation are there.

2100 isn't bad. Over 2500 sustained is what I would worry about.
