My friends cruise control on his 1995 gmc 1500 as stoped working. At first it started just slowing sliping down in speed. Now it wont work at all is there a relay or something that can be replaced or what would it be. I dont know anything about this. Also it seems the handle where you turn it on and off seems to be working it just wont keep the speed. Hope this makes sense.

sounds like it needs a new control unit. You can pick one up in a boneyard for next to nothing. They're bolted to the firewall just over the brake booster.

Yep....don't even ask the dealer. Most of the electric cable cruise control modules are $400+. There is a plastic gear inside that gets stripped over time. If I could produce just the gear, I'd be a freakin' millionaire. This is why I always keep old modules that have good gears and bad electronics. I fixed the module on my blazer in just a few minutes with a free take out gear. Might find a reman with a warranty for not too much on eBay.
Yeah, if it goes out over time, it's not a relay. The problem was perfectly diagnosed by Nate.And use Greg's recommendation for getting one from a junk yard...
