AAM, American Axle and Manufacturing gears FTW! Honestly, I'd be looking for a 14bolt for that monster.

thanks red .i guess im gonna start looking for a 14 bolt .this is the 3rd set of gears.man when you fix 1 thing the next goes bad.wth.im tossed up cause it sucks,i wanna put 4.10s in it but its 4wd and i have to change out both.i wish i could even put 4.10s drive alittle wile then do te fronts.but doing both at once is more money and downtime,ya know.so what rear do i look for ?one from an hd?thatll probly have 410s and ill end up having to do fronts along with it.

Not sure on the donor vehicle you'll need. The TBSS has a 14bolt but I'm not sure its wide enough for a fullsize truck. My 14bolt 6lug rear came out of a 91 model 4wd and had 3.42 gears in it. A 2wd Silverado SS and VHO both have the 14 bolt rears.

I got mine through 4wheel parts. You have to have a dealer account to get them through 4WP, though. I was lucky that day, they were out of all other makes in the warehouse and to make the sale they sold me the AAMs for $180. A bargain in my books.

The dealer has AAM because that's who makes the OEM stuff but you'll need a buddy on the inside and an armored truck. That being said, they are the strongest for street use IMO.

Because it's too small for the weight when a lot of power is put to it with traction.

I see no problem with running different ratios as long as you stay in 2WD.
