    Question on 4.3

I am new here so feel free to flame me but I have been reading alot of threads on here the past couple of days and some seriously intelligent guys on here. I have a my personal shop truck is a 05 single cab short fleet with a 4.3 v-6 auto in it. I sold my powersmoke diesel with a 7.3, air intake, exhaust, tune, a 6" lift 4wd with 35 tires so I can save on fuel when I started my business last year. The problem is they BOTH get/got 13mpg. Is there something wrong with my 6 cylinder!!!!!!!!! Even hypermiling I only get 15mpg but it sux sitting in traffic with the truck turned off. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I hope this is the correct place to post. If not mods feel free to move.

I used to work for a chevy dealer and had an 02 silverado that I put 247,000 miles on and it got 18mpg! It was extended cab to boot. I need to do something to this pig or I am going to have to sell and lose my butt on it and start drving a grand am that I have that is 4cyl but i don't want to do that because I need a truck. I will contact him and see what he says.

The V6 is underpowered and works it butt off moving a heavy truck. Swap the 6 out for a 5.3L v8 and your fuel mileage will increase. A tune couldn't hurt either.

When I had the 4.3 I got pretty good gas mileage with the nelson tune. I swapped over to the 5.3 and got a little worse but thats bc my foot was never out of the throttle

um 2XX. It wasnt much at all, and allen did a great job with the tuning. Took all TM out, etc. The pricing might be different now bc I got this done about 3-4 years ago
