    Silverado in distress :(

The hose to the right, which from what Im guessing is supply line to the heater core????

Anyway it turns into a geyser this morning right as Im hooking up the trailer to head for Texas Heatwave. Said screw it jumped in the wife's car and just went to spectate.

Got home thinking all I needed to do was replace the hose, well guess what the hose is fine, its the neck that hose slides over that sheared off, glad they made it out of plastic

anyway how much of a PITA is this gonna be to replace? I tried spinning the plastic piece off and I could spin it til my face is blue and its not going anywhere. PLEASE tell me this is like one of the old ford lines that you can stick a tool inside to release some fingers holding in on and I dont have to pull the whole dash out just to fix this crap line.

I was afraid of that Im guessing capping it isnt an option either. I rarely drive the truck and has used the heater maybe 5 times.

if you have no need for heat at this moment, cap off or bypass the heater core by cutting the hoses about 6" from the firewall and putting a piece of 5/8" tubing and clamps to tie them back together for now. Later you can mend or replace them when you're ready to fix the core.

there is a tool to collapse the tangs that keep the line on, but if its broken at the spot where it goes into the firewall your looking towards removing the entire dash to replace the heater core.

that plastic piece that just spins, cut it off ( split it in two ), mine broke also, all i did was cut it off, cut the end of the hose, ( the fitting off ) and hose clamped it back on ..

Well from your description it sounds like it's just the plastic fitting. If so, as stated above, all you need to do is get a new one and swap them out. The old one works like a fuel line quick disconnect fitting...you'll either have to cut it as described above or get the proper tool to remove it.

    Now for the funny part....

You can get the fitting from the dealer by itself, or with a length of hose attached and a few new hose clamps. Guess which one is cheaper? That's right!! The one with the hose and clamps attached. Makes no sense to me, but that's how it goes.
