    Hookin up the fuel

    Where do you get those pieces that snap on to the fuel lines on the 5.3 motor and adapt them to threads so you can run your braided fuel lines?

    Edit: Is this them? If so how do they work do you cut off the flare/lip and these are like a slip fitting?

    Whats better about those then the ones I originally posted? Also where can I get fuel lines long enough to reach back to my frame rails?

    They're better at draining money out of your bank account.

    They are quick connects with rubber seals to slip onto the fuel rails and take no tools to remove the fittings from the fuel line. The others use brass ferrules that clamp down around the fuel rail and sometimes become a permanent part of the fuel rail.

    Yeah Ill be a cheapo and go with the cheaper ones, I don't think Ill be disconnecting the fuel lines too often anyways.

    Without starting a new thread I am wondering how you adapt the tranny cooler lines to the rad in my 97. I talked to one guy who said just cut both somewhere about halfway and then splice them with rubber hose and clamps?

    So those are the tapered-seat compression (AN) fittings. Those don't seem to seat correctly with the OEM braided lines that come up the back of the old engine which use an o-ring and flat seat. I have some -6AN female and male fittings and they didnt exactly run with the OE. Since aaron has a Vortec and i have TBI i cant remember how his lines go into the spider assembly, but for sure the TBI ends don't match up to the back of those fancy ones you posted. And if he has the OE braided lines( i don't believe he was mentioning some Russel braided lines which would most likely have AN fittings), you cant quite cut and use the ferrule route and have a clean -looking splice. Almost have to rob the ends of a fuel filter and....i dunno..*scratches head*

    Yeah, those are made specifically to fit the fuel rail connections on a GM vehicle. The opposite ends are AN -8 and -6 fittings. Sure it's not a one piece connection to the fuel rail from the GM oring type connection but they are quick connects. Adaptation to bolt directly to the GM lines will be required for sure. If the stock lines are long enough you could cut the GM hose ends off and put on a russel AN hose end in its place. I always make new hoses coming from the fuel filter forward.
