What is optimal AFR for max power N/A?

    Guys,
What do you all run for optimal power (AFR ratio) for naturally aspirated full bolt ons/cam/gears/stall setup?

Lean is mean but 12.8 is safe.

Depends on the fuel octane you use also along with factors such as cr, timing etc. But generally 12.8 like stated above is good.

Not sure where I got this, but I was thinking around 13.5 would net me more power. CR 9.5, 93 octane fuel, Nelson tune. Currently wideband readings at WOT are 12.3-4 is this too rich or is it not enough of a loss to worry about? I know the chart is narrowband output, I was just using it for referance.

Gauge READING FULL THROTTLE AIR/FUEL RATIO
    .000 17.0:1
    .100 17.0:1
    .200 16.0:1
    .300 15.5:1
    .400 15.0:1
    .500 14.7.0:1
    .600 Dangerously Lean 14.6:1
    .700 Getting lean 14.5:1
    .800 Max power(Lean) normally aspirated 14.2:1
.875 Max Power normally aspirated 13.5:1
    .900 Max Power (Rich) (NOS,blower,Turbo) 13.2:1
    1.000 Very Rich 12.5:1

with all the dyno data using an O2 sensor in an exhaust pipe bung (the most accurate) my knowledge with all the stuff i have done to mine and helped with others reveals it may depend on a couple factors......

the LS1 seem to like it a little leaner pushing 12.7 max 12.8 and the LS2 seems to like it a little richer like 12.4 to 12.5 makes the most power and track results.....

my 441 seems to also like it a little richer at 12.5 is where we are dialed in on HPP's dyno......

my knowledge shows that anywhere from 12.4-12.8 is that sweet spot that you can add or subtract fuel in the power enrichment if you have an AFR guage installed play with it making VERY VERY SMALL adjustments.......

but all this may just be a result of compression.....the LS2 has a bit more compression which would make since that as the compression goes up so should the AFR to reduce LEAN detnation and more fuel USUALLY gives you an ability to ADD timing which is a direct POWER/TORQUE maker

Cool, thx for the replies guys. So I would be better off leaving it a tad rich (as it is) and seeing if I can run a few more degrees advance with no knock retard for power? Would I see the A/F go lean with more advance, or is this measure independant of spark advance? Or, as I suspect will I need to monitor both WOT A/F and Knock Retard for the final polish on my tune?

Allen disregard my PM, looks like you where gold with my mail order to begin with (as usual)!

I might ask (if you dont mind) you to send my tune unlocked so I can start to make the final adjustments, and the constant tire size and shift rpm changes I hate asking you all to do for me.

One last question I have, for those that have used both, Which SW do you feel is easier to get a handle on HPTuners or EFI live? I believe I have the instruments at this time to properly log, WBO2, FP, etc.. My final step is taking the plunge on the sw/hw package. I have been doing research on both, but to be honest it seems the opinions in the most part are coming from parties that have only used one or the other, not both. I am a bit confused at this point, and to be straight to my point I really trust alot of the opinions on this specific forum so all that have knowledge please help out.
