    Cam recommendations for ls1 silverado..

    Hey guys,

I just recently swaped my ls1 into my truck, finally fixed my a/c problem and im running no more dtc codes.

Now that ive driven it for about 2 weeks i already want to throw a cam in. It originally came with a stock ls1 cam but, i swaped it out with a stock ls6 cam and i want more...lol.

I was thinking about a 112 or 114 lsa. .55x-.58x lift and for duration i have no clue... maybe 220? I really like the lope of the GM hot cam. Give me some ideas. As for Torque converter i will be getting a 2600-3000 not sure yet.

Im putting this cam in my truck in sig. Yes its a daily driver, I want this motor to be N/A and not horrible on gas.

    Thanks alot people, Brandon

This is something I am also interested in knowing, and will keep reading about. What else was required to install the cam? New pushrods, springs, retainers?

Yes i have looked at cams on texas speed and comp cams. I just wanted YOUR guys opinions on what you think.

For a cam swap all you really need is springs and gaskets but pushrods, lifters and retainers are a nice investment.

If you do not replace the stock pushrods with hardened rods you'll create a disaster shortly. You can bend stock pushrods with a stock cam. They can't handle the load of a performance cam with more lift and a more agressive lift profile.

if you get yours from texas speed i would highly recomend getting the whole cam kit....

my cam is a 228/228 588/588 @ 112.... its a pig down low but the top is amazing... i used to have the 220/220 581/581 @ 112 and that was a really nice cam

Well thats not good for me because my truck is all ready a pig a low end. Would the 112 lsa make it better down low? Im leaning towards a 220 on 112 lsa, i need it to be good down low. Does anyone else have any cam recommendations for a good low end with 3.73's?

I fixed my a/c by i recheck all my connections and the actual a/c connector was shoved in the plastic housing so i took it off and rewired it.

    Thanks

Yeah Brandon--Alan's cam would be good for your truck. Since you have the 243 heads (AWESOME!!!!), you can do that cam and back it up with a 3000 Tank TT stall. Do 7.4L Hardened Pushrods and PRC springs with that cam. You can get a cam kit that includes all of it from Texas Speed. Once you get all of that installed, your truck wil scream!!!!

get a bigger converter then. my cam is a hair smaller (226/226) and i was cutting 1.69 60' times spinning. now im wishing i went with the 228 or even bigger.
