    need help wiring!!

hey guys im in the midst of wiring my 5.3 harness into my 98 chevy. and need some help the harness was reworked by nelson performance.

i need to wire the. fuel pump positve wire and am not sure exactly the best spot to do this. do i wire it in under the fuse box?

also i need to wire the "ignition key 1998 on" its a small pink and black wire. does anyone know where to splice this wire?

and last but not least the starter soleniod voltage wire(big purple wire). and idea?

im also not sure where the plugs are supposed to plug into.... sorry for the ignorance its the first time ive done this. thanks everyone!

The large purple from the Nelson harness can tie into your existing starter relay large purple wire that your previous motor used. Its in your power center. This way its already fused as well, as it came from the factory. The pink from the Nelson harness simply needs to be wired to one of the original trucks pinks. They are all 12V hot with the ignition switch on only, not constant, full time hots, which is what all the oranges are. This can also be tied into your trucks existing "Ign" fuses in your power center. Take the power center loose & turn it up side down & you will see what wires go to what fuse & what relay. Its pretty simple to follow that way. I don't recognize the two large plugs you have there. One is probably a diagnostic port? I don't know.

soo check these out... there is 1 big purple wire.. i am assuming that is the starter solenoid wire i need to tie the other big purple wire into?

also i need the fuel pump positive wire... would that be red or orange and i can just use the fuse box for that aswell? there is a relay that's labeled "Fuel pump Relay" as far as the pink wires go there is 3 as far as i can see in this picture. i have two fuses labeled ing A and Ign B would i be using one of these? does it matter which?? thanks

I'm glad your asking all these questions.

I will be doing the same thing in the next couple days.

    Keep up the good work

With all the pics you have and how some people like myself have no knowledge of wiring, I think this should be a sticky.

if someone documents a complete harness install, I'll definitely stick that! Take lots of pics.

I have been told the fuel pump wire is gray but I'm not sure.

yeah, the positive wire going to the fuel pump is a grey wire. The wire coming out of the pcm for the fuel pump should be a grounding wire to trigger the relay on the firewall, if you have one. I don't know if they wired in a fuel pump relay into the harness.

When he says "tie into" does that mean T or cut in half and tie the new wire to the end that goes to the fuse or relay?

    thanks, Kris

The purple wire gets battery voltage when the ignition switch is in the start position.
