    Ok What Next?

    Ok so i am now on my third rear end who can tell me what might be the best way to go.

    i have had the eaton locker, the auborn, and the old school s-clip posi. and have blown them all up. friends have told me not to get the worm gear style rear end but i have no clue what to try or what to get. who has had the best luck with what and where is the best place to get it at.

    what i have is:
    1987 R-10 with 2004 LQ4 Radix system pushing 6.5lbs
    Turbo350 tranny 2800stall 3.42 gears
    275/55/17's
    401hp 450fttq
    truck weighs 4500lbs

    Put a spool in it and be done, that or go for a 9" or 14 bolt. You are obviously very hard on a third member! Are you setting these up or is a professional doing it?

    they are professionaly set up. we can't figure out what is going on. i have snapped two axle shafts as well

    Something isn't right. That shouldn't be enough power to do that kind of damage...unless you are neutral bombing it.

    no no netural bombs here i did that in high school and learned my lesson.
    yea that is the problem we have no idea why this is going on. i am guessing that maybe i will get another old school since they are cheap and try another person setting it up and see what happenes. this is my day to day driver so the spool is out. the eaton that just blew up i bought off e-bay so that may have been the problem there. i just don't know. oh and i am running the 28 spline as well axles

    possible. I would have to put my money on ether the person setting it up, or your driving habbits. Also those 28 spline axles are garbage.

    +1 on both those. Upgrade to 31 spline too.

    35 spline, they are really not that much more than 31 or 33, and these are heavy trucks.. just my .02
