I was coming home today from Joe's trans shop, i like to hang out there to bullshits sometimes, and i was about 10 miles from home and KABOOOOOOMMM!! My heart just about stopped, (keep in mind this all happened in a split second) I heard the loud noise and I looked around and then in my rear view mirror. Guess what i saw, my freaking driveshaft LOL!! It was 20 feet in the air and luckily landed in the grass.
I have to admit, I was getting on it and all those take-offs and launches at the track finally had it's toll on the poor little v6 driveshaft, hahaha.

Damage was minimal, even at 85mph!, it bent up my mufflers and scared the under carriage, no biggy though.

There's only one bad side to having an LS1, you'll definitely start breaking things. :frown:

Well, my father in law came and picked me up and i finally got home.

I measured the length of the new shaft, so i'll have one made up tomorrow, it will take about two days. I guess I'm driving the motorcycle the rest of the week.

That sucks, sorry to hear about that. Guess it is an excuse to get a stronger one though. Do you think the drive shafts on the new body style trucks with v8's will be strong enough for the swap. I do realize if I start to build the ls1 up, I will need to get a beefier one. I guess it is also time to get that borla exhaust you were wanting.

I dont know if i should laugh or say sorry.. but its sad that it broke shit, but i would have laughed if it happened to me. No reason to get mad like most do. I hope you get a badass one made and let me know what it costs to do so i can get one made for me later.

My friend had a 76 nova, build 350, cragger SS rims.. we were coming around this bend that everyone does 45-50 on.. we were all bullshitting, there werwe 3 of us, we call it the ghetto nova.. this kid said "it'd be funny if your shit fell apart" and no more than he said that the front wheel came off, we slid over 3 blocks and it (the wheel) bounced off of a house.. what happened was the lug studs broke.. hilarious man..

    Hope you get shit fixed

Ya, it's no biggy, I'm used to breaking stuff. that's the price i have to pay for having fun.

I think the newer shafts are a tad stronger, ppl are going 12's on them, and 11's.

I'll keep you guys updated on the prices and stuff,

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but your damage may be more extensive than you think. the same exact thing happened to me at about the same speed. I downshifted to third messing with some ricer one night when my ds. flew out and my buddy "1500sleeper" was behind me and ha ran over it. the damage amounted to, of course a mutilated ds, broke tranny bellhousing, broke throwout bearing, bent ds loop, dented up exhaust pipes and flowmasters, bent pinion yoke, and the worse part (which you might not be aware of with your's), a bent tranny output shaft. Freakin mishap cost me about $950 to finally resolve. do yourself a favor and upgrade to some 1350 series universal joints and a forged pinion yoke on that shaft you build and make sure you inspect that output shaft on your tranny before you install the new one, or it will imbalance the new shaft if its bent. good luck with it.

Get a DS safety loop, or next time you might get pole vaulted on to your side.

I guess the track is easy going becuase they don't check for 12-13 sec cars/trucks, and they have passed my truck without one.

i'll be making for sure this time.
