    my 97 to a 5.3 conversion???

i have a 97 swb chevy truck with a 5.7 and auto trans.

    my question is

i purchased a complete, i mean complete 2006 motor and trans, for my 97 and i have the motor mounts that i need for the swap it was part of the motor and trans purchase etc. im really ready to set the motor in place.
but i just need to know if i could just use the 2006 5.3 harness and just zip tie or whatever my 97 harness and just set it out of the way under the hood?
the 97 truck is unmolested never been jacked with as far as wiring harness goes, i have purchased a serv# 12200411 ecm. but never converted to the 411 ecm.
would it be a better option to convert over to the 411, so i could use my 97 wiring harness to run the motor and tranny of the 2006 5.3?
or could i just use the 2006 complete motor, trans, and wiring and splice in whats needed?
    thanks
    Ed

To start with, the 2006 engines use a TAC, electronic throttle pedal. The 411 PCM is not designed to control an engine with TAC. Did you get a TAC module with the engine when you bought it?

Why would you want to zip tie the old harness, just cut off what isn't being used any more. Some of the leads going from the old harness can supply fused power, ground and gauge feedback to your new setup.

If you want to use the 411 PCM you have to get your harness modifed for it or get a new custom harness from someone such as site sponsor NelsonPerformance.com .

The engine mounts you have, can you post pics of them so we can verify if you have what you're going to need?

first off i can change the tb to a 02 tb and use my t-cable to run it, the 411 is set up for a cable. and the fuel rail is for a non return style fuel system i can get a return style from a 02 back or just use the corvette fuel filter with the return built into it.
zip tie the harness back so if i ever want to go back to the 5.7 it wont be any big deal.
as far as Nelson goes yes or i can use SpearTech also.
    thanks

You'll have to custom build a bracket for the throttle cable since the 06 intake won't have tapped holes for the 02 throttle cable bracket. Using the single inlet fuel rail isn't an issue at all, just use the Corvette fuel filter setup. Why would you want to switch back to the 5.7L engine, to sell the truck and keep the GenIII engine setup? That's a nice truck, I don't think I'd even think about getting rid of it.

my reasons is because i have a 93 coupe (mustang) and i cut all the wiring harness out and i could just kick myself in the ass today for it, i would like go back efi in the mustang now, i got rid of all the fuel tank, air bag sensors, cruise control, etc etc etc
and i swore i would never do that again.
i wouldnt sale the truck but you get my idea or point
but my truck i just dont want to do a hack job on it because it is nice.

Once you go LSx, I don't think you'll ever want to go back to a Vortec engine unless you try to restore the truck back to original 20 years from now. Even 67-69 Camaro owners are switching over to GenIII engines. I wouldn't sweat it, worrying about going back to the stock engine.
