Can your pcm make your truck sputter?

I got the nelson tune a while ago. Three weeks ago put on a new airaid cai, drove it awesome for two weeks, now when i go to romp on the gas my truck sputters, chug-a-lugs and slows down. It was at the mechanic all last week, he tested everything, everything checks out ok. Fuel injectors are clean, fuel filter and fuel pump are fine. He also put in a new mass air flow sensor and still no change.

From what i understood from him he thinks the pcm is limiting the amount of fuel entering the engine during heavy throttle. He was going to flash the pcm but since he knows it isn't stock i asked him not to.

Could the CAI and the PCM be doing something against eachother? I have no idea so i am open to all suggestions, thanks.

Maybe the fuel pump is dying. Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it and checked it while driving? could be a vacuum leak, bad MAF, MAP or TPS too. So many things to go wrong on these, you can replace parts until the cows come home. You need to have it hooked to a scanner to see if all the sensors are right.

My Nelson Tune is NOT locked. But I believe it's because the new E38 ECM's in the GMT900's are not lockable.

he had it hooked up to a scanner while driving, no clues were given, no check engine lights, Also checked the fuel pump pressure, injectors: replaced maf, fuel filter, and still sputters. I do agree with the fuel pump though. But no really good clues have been given yet as to why its doing it.

With Our New Software We Will Be Locking Our 2007-2008 PCM And TCM ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The is no need for a retune for a CAI.
Have you tried removing the CAI, and seeing if the problem still remains?
It might be the fuel pump, dont know, many possibilities?

    thanks,

Be sure there are no vac. leaks between the maf and throttle body.
