Question 1/4 Mile and Top Speed Performance?

This question may actually belong in a different forum category, but I'll start it here and apologize to the moderators if this needs to be moved.

I am preparing to swap an '02 LS1 (Firebird) into a '91 C1500 SWB. The truck has some great suspension mods and we're looking for a big brake combination to back up 17" rims with some really sticky rubber.

The goal for the project is to run 12.0 or better in the 1/4 mile and be able to change rear gears and tires and then road race at a constant 130+ mph.

Has anyone performed a similar swap and gotten some real world numbers for either 1/4 mile e.t. or open road speeds? If so, please provide some details about your combo so I can get a better idea of what I will need to meet my goals.

RedHeartBeat suggested I will need a turbo to get where I want to go. I am not opposed to this, but will need to revise both my budget and my time line if this is the case.

Any help here is greatly appreciated.

You certainly won't get into 12.x's NA... You'll find a lot of information here and over at the Pacific Audio Performance board. Some of those guys have their Tahoe slugs standing on their rears but you can bet you're not looking at a simple LSx under the hood...

funny....im going for 11's on motor in an extended cab silverado. 12.00 would be easy in a single cab pickup set up correct. go back to your AUDIO performance site and talk about drag racing

    Question Clarification

So, if I'm understanding most of you correctly, the 5.3 and 6.0 don't make enough power with external bolt ons to make low 12's, but an LS1 with similar bolt ons could, in a light weight truck with the right gear?

Or is the position of experience on this board that a naturally aspirated LSx of any origin can't make it?

I found a video on YouTube that shows an '01 Sierra with an LS1, 4L80E, convertor, gears, and a 100 shot turning mid-11's. Check it out at the link below.

I have tried to contact the guy to see if there is more to his combo than he lets on, but I haven't heard back yet.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
