    GMC Run-around

Hey guys, For the past month I have been experiencing some problems with my instrument panel. My speedometer will get stuck. Ill look down and it will say 65 when Im really going 25. After noticing this for two weeks, I get a letter in the mail regarding this same problem. I read the letter and it says "General Motors is providing owners with a special coverage that extends the warranty on the instrument panel if the condition occurs on your 2004 GMC Sierra within 7 years or 70,000 mile, which ever comes first." Great, my truck has 105,000 miles on it. I call GM, they dont help, I call the GMC dealership, they can't do anything for me. I ask for a number for a General manager but they say, "the only way to get in touch with a manager is a letter...I dont understand...Its their fault that the instrument panel is screwed up but they cant replace it because I dont meet the special requirements. I am really pissed off about this. I don't want to pay out the ass for a new instrument panel. Do yall have any suggestions. Thanks
    -Clay

I would call the 1800chevusa number and ask if they will ship you a new instrument cluster. Pontiac would not warranty my GrandAm cylinder head with 117k on it but they replaced the hard parts for free and I paid for the labor to install.

    just an update

just an update for the instrument panel. I did my research and found the stepper motor for my speedo on E-bay for 9.50 and the guy Im buying from is sending instructions and said it should be an easy resolder job. This will be a much better fix than a new 400 dollar instrument panel! Please pass the word around to everyone!

I tried!!! I called GM and I called the dealer but its not a recall yet. Its a "special condition that COULD occur." I called three dealers to see if they would be nice about it but they all said they could only do what the letter said. The lady at GM didnt know what the hell she was talking about, she pretty much just told all I could do was get a new one! I even asked her if she knew what a stepper motor was, but she didnt know. Gm really pissed me off about this one.
