    Wheel hops like an animal!

hey guys my truck ever since i lowered it 4/6 it has hopped like CRAZY! like my change hits the roof my phone goes flying and feels like the trucks gona break in half. Can tires affect this? also when i throw some cal tracs on it it should help but will it eliminate it. i have cheapo kumho ecsta tires 255/35/20 on there now i think once i swap the 5.3 in im gona invest in some 275/35/20s any suggestions or comments appreciated!

First thing.. Whats your pinion angle? Did you do a flip kit? next up with 6" you will need a C notch .. Make sure the axle isnt wrapping up and hitting the frame.. Look above the axle at the frame from a Shiney spot... When mine was dropped 5" without a wedge my pinion angle was up 4 degrees .. truck had a TON of dig in it.. but would bottom out on the frame... Now i have Caltrax and wedges... all problems solved

What brand kit? What year and body style of truck? If you have a two piece driveshaft, did you add the driveshaft shim for the carrier bearing?

I tore my exhaust pipe out of the stock manifold flange with similar axle hop. I put the suspension back to stock after that.

I ripped the u-bolts out of mine without changing the pinion angle. LOL I guarantee it's the pinion angle. You'll need a minimum of 3 degrees or more for the proper alignment. As far as the Cal-Tracs go, I just spin the tires without any hop now and that's with an Eaton posi. Set the pinion 2-3 degrees low and you'll be fine.

alright lets see if i can answer all these at 1 time the kit is from belltech its a 4 inch drop 2inch spindles 2 inch springs 6 in the back flip kit i read the faq on the pinion angle and thought that might have something to do with the wheel hop and loss of power. i didnt shim anything and trust i DESTROYED my flowmaster with my driveshaft i think shes prolly about an inch wide in 1 spot and its supposed to be 2.5 haha not to mention on my 3.5 hour ride back from connecticut with my t-56 the exhaust decided to fall out so i had to hold it up with tow straps all the way home! very annoying sound and on top of that some dick trooper gave me a ticket for 180$ for going like 16 over what a bad day between gas and the ticket i cuda just shipped the frigen tranny and not wasted a whole day! what is the best way to change my angle obviously loosen up the u bolts and move the rear end up or down? what is used to measure it and whats the correct degree for it to be at? thanks guys im really tired of hopping lol oh and i will be putting in an eaton lsd with some 4.56s aswell

First thing to check is that you have the flip kit saddles positioned the correct direction. There is a short side and a long side, that will set the pinion angle correctly. Their kit is well engineered and does all the settings of the pinion angle for you.

whoa yeah no axle movement! I have a similar problem with my u-bolts coming loose. Gotta remember to tighten them before long trips :p I had to buy wedges to change my pinion angle the western chassis didnt supply anything. And you did bolt up a C-notch and cut a piece of your frame out?
