    Angry Misfire, Part MVIXXIVIIXXI

    This is getting old.

Thought I was good to go after cleaning out the injectors & rails. NOPE.
Found a burnt plug wire and one with a nick, so I replaced them all. That was last week and 200 miles since then (and about 2+ hours straight of driving and looking at houses), and all has been good until today. Running about 80 mph on the highway, it starts to miss again. Exited and got to a light, and it is misfiring the same way again. Checked everything I could, but no luck.

Killed the truck & restarted, performed that cycle about 5 times, then it starts and is fine. Shook out all the wiring and harnesses to no avail. Drive off, and about 100 yards and starts again. Killed it, let it sit for 20 min, started right up, purred like a kitten all the way back (15 miles). Even stopped at the dealership to talk to my buddy about it, and it still ran fine. Drove back to work, everything is cool. Killed it, left work about an hour later, drove home and all is fine.

I am stumped why it would act like this?

Did you ever check your grounds? Do you have a ground going from the battery directly to the engine block?

Umm, yes. And ummm, they were tight right after I just tightened them!

What are the odds 2 ground wires at the rear of the block on top were loose?
If that fixes it, I will by you a case of whatever you like to drink (limited to beer budget!)

Yes, the large ground. Smaller ground goes to front of frame.

I hope that was it Greg.

We discussed it in an earlier post, someone just didn't check it back then.

Its kind of like when you lose something, you always find it in the last place you look. If you found it, why would you keep looking for it?
