Broken Valve Springs on LT1 TrickFlow heads

    HELP PLEASE!!!

    Any witch doctor is welcome......

    I installed my shinny trick flow heads on my LT1 ( TFS-30400010, 1.460" Dual Springs) and a CompCam DURATION # .050 230 230 GROSS VALVE LIFT .583 .583 114 LS

After a few miles of use, not hard core, I busted a OEM rocker arm in the tip zone !!!!!!
Thinking it was my good luck I replace it, and ordered the CompCam full roller rockers and chrome molly push rods.

When I say few miles, I mean it, so the stuff arrive, and when I'm ready to change them, I notice 2 valve springs that went south !!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I'm clueless about what is happening here, I can order new springs, but my logic says that I'm not addressing to the source of the problem.....

I'm always been a change parts type of guy, no real mechanic for what this problem calls for....can any one please guide me, in what should I change or look for in the valve train?

I was so ready to install my PTK turbo kit, but now, I'm stalled and scare to death...

Thanks in advance for any tip.

With that much lift on a stock LT1 you probably crashed a valve into the piston tops.

    Dear Redheart,

The heads R 62cc combustion Chamber, I'm guessing the OEM is around 58cc or 60cc....but u r the master here

If I send a valve to meet a piston, wont that bend a valve, or a push rod, but not break a spring, thank for ur input and please guide me here.

Also the Cam ant the turbo sys and almost every mod was consulted and aproved by Allen. But as ussual, he's out of reach

Even the stock LS1 springs can't handle that much lift. How much lift are the springs on those heads good for? Did you clay the piston tops for clearance before you finish torqued the heads on? Checking the piston to valve clearance is very important. If you have the heads off be sure to check the clearance this time around.

What do you mean out of reach, you texted me at 8:30pm last night, lol. I was out eating dinner.

Check the coil bind and make sure the pushrods aren't too long.
That combination will work, but as always, check ptv clearance, spring height and pushrod length.

    later,

    allen

sorry for that Allen I was with Gabe last night (from Ecuador) we where kindda desperate lol, will not happen again, anyway we discovered today that the springs that came preassembled with the TrickFlow heads where RUSTED in the place they broke, the valves, pistons, pushrods, etc where ok. So it was a factory error or maybe a bad storage who knows, will post better pictures of the springs soon, I didn´t beleive it when my mechanic called me until I saw them.

Thanks a lot for everyone´s patience and all your help.
