I cant afford to lose another tranny on my truck. The warranty wont cover it no more since i already replaced it one time already...

Can anyone give me a list of things to upgrade on my transmission so it can handle the worse abuse of street/strip action...? and if you can include the part numbers for them.. that will help alot too..

If you paid for 100k of warranty, I don't see how they could refuse to repair a defective part if the vehicle still has under 100k miles on it. They could replace the transmission with a 4L80E and then your worries will go away. If it's the GM warranty, I don't think they'll refuse to repair anything unless they can prove you intentionally damaged the transmission. It's not like your running a stall convertor or something. If you modify the transmission then they might refuse to repair it.

best bet is to call someone like FLT or Jerry's Transmission in DFW to see about their transmissions. if u dont know about transmissions i wouldnt recommend digging into it UNLESS u have someone that has done tranny work. ive come to the conclusion the transmission is as important if not more important than the engine itself.

Transmission break/wear out. It's just a law of physics. If you want it to last forever let your Grandmother drive your truck and buy a bicycle for yourself.

There are alot of things depends... alot of people switch from a 4 pinion planet to a 5 pinion, Band,of course shift kit, servos clutches whats called a Z pack 3/4 clutches.. I dont know about the online builders Units myself but most "warranty" dealership rebuilds are nothing more then fixing what was broken ... I have worked in dealerships you go back with OE parts they give you enough to "fix" the problem. There are no such things as OE shift kits... I had another trans shop call me today and ask me how i like the HD-2 shift kits that most everyone with a 4l60 has... he told me it was junk and he hated it My trans has 91,000 on it and it will bark 2nd gear All day everyday its more aggressive then most people like but I work at a trans shop so it has to shift bad ass.... There are pump updates, pwm updates, shift kits, servos,HD wide band, super hold 4th servo is a must... I see alot of Failures caused from Manual shifting a trans even from a dead stop it can be ruthless build it ... set it up correctly inside and "tweek" shift points with your tuner Leave it in drive and beat on it all you want ... Fluid temp and a good cooler are also something to keep in mind

I was going to say this also - chances are the reman tranny you have in your truck is worse than what it originally came with; GM replacement trannies are notorious for having piss-poor reliability.

well i do have a extended warranty good until 75,000 and already replaced my transmission with a brand new one..

but after i buy my cam and install my converter... The warranty is history.....I want to build up my tranny for a possible 6.0L swap later down the road so i'm just trying to get as much info as possible and prefer to stay away from buying a brand new custom stage 5 whatever transmission going for $2500+ etc, etc....
