Well the little 4.8 couldn't muster any better than a 10.37 @ 69 today, 1/8th mile track obviously. Don't have exact numbers because I left the slip in the truck. That fastest pass was with the tow/haul off, I found interesting. It actually hooks up on the strip, a depressingly pleasant surprise. 60 footers hovered right around 2.36.

So, being a gearhead rather than a shammy-wielder, my attention shifts to go-fast goodies. I'm leaning towards HPTuners as long as opinions don't scare me away, either that or a Nelson tune. After searching, I guess a vette servo/sonnax super hold 4th/transgo HD2/alum accum pistons, and maybe deep pan and filter from FLT would complement it well if I wanted to remove all torque management right away?

I would estimate truck weight around 43-4400 pounds max with driver and fuel, and it's only a 4.8, so its not that abusive. Also, I really don't expect it to see better than high 13s, if that, before I would just cough up for an FLT tranny and motor swap. Please correct me on anything I'm missing for tranny bits, call me stupid, or assure me that I'm on the right path. Also alert me for things that are overkill.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Matt, yeah I would start there with the tranny mods. You're going to need a converter too, I would recommend a 2800-3000.

Nelson tune is the way to go. HP tuners is real in depth. Would have taken me years to get it as good as Nelson .. .. er actually I never would have been able to do it.

FLT on the tranny mods yeah baby. Mr P is right a stall would help.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the help here. The only thing left I was wondering was about Trailblazer converters. Are they all supposed to be about 2600 stall, if I remember correctly(or am I confusing something else)? I realize that's pretty conservative but I work at a junkyard and resultingly have hook ups for a lot of OE parts.

Start with the gears and posi unit of your choice. Get a convertor and shift kit next. You can do the tune whenever you choose, I'd do it at the same time as the gear install since you'll need the speedometer recalibrated anyway. I would do the shift kit at the same time as the convertor install so it's all one installation. A 5.3/6.0 swap would be such an improvement in performance. I have a 4.8 in my crewcab and the fuel mileage is great but performance sucks.

Thanks Red. the truck already has posi and 3.73s, so shift kit looks to be next. i thought likewise when mr. P mentioned a converter, it would be easier to do all at once, so thats why I was asking about the Trailblazer converters. 6.0 would be nice, but remains on the "future plans" list for now. Gotta work with what I got.
