Hi I'm a newb to the forum, got some questions about my truck and what its capable of. First of all the truck is a 06 Silverado SCLB 2500HD 2wd work truck,6.0 4l80e tow package etc. I traded in my 05 stang for this to tow my 72 chevelle to the track. With the chevelle still bieng built I spent to much time away from the strip so I took my truck strip the other day to hunt down some ricers and was surprized with my results. Bested a 15.6 @ 91 mph, 2.38 60' with only a K&N intake and some 40 series flowmasters.

Anyways I realized since this thing is LSX based it might not take much to get some big gains from it. So what do you think I would need to crack into the 14's? Would just a tune do it? It has a bad dead spot in 1st gear right after the lauch to when it starts to hit high rpm,but once its up and moving it goes pretty good. Would a tuner add too much timing for a tow vehicle? Don't want it to knock and ping up grades when loaded down. I had great gains from a tuner on the 05 stang, but it would ping come winter time gas here in cali.

a Tune from allen nelson would work wonders with that truck. I could see you getting 14s with just that.

Get something like a Yank 3000 rpm stall convertor. That will also help with towing to get the RPM up a little bit when taking off with the trailer. Be sure it's got a good tranny cooler, also. Just like the Chevelle you have to get it to launch. Since you have a 2.6 60' time, imagine what it will be like once you get a 1.8 60'. You are already into the 14s just by working on the launch. Gears, posi, converter, Calvertracing (caltrac) bars and good tires.

YANK MAKES A HD 2600 STALL THAT WILL STILL PULL THE WEIGHT. ON A STOCK MOTOR IT SHOULD STALL UP FINE. I HAD ONE, BUT THE CAM KILLED IT. IT WOULD PULL GREAT THOUGH. I WOULD'VE SOLD YOU MY OLD ONE IF I HAD KNOWN.
