Thread: Trans Problems?

    HEY GUYS,

    MY TRANS SOMTIMES LOCKS THE CONVETER UP AT 30 MLS PER HR. THEN THE TRANNY SHIFTS HARD. I WILL PULL OVER AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND START IT BACK UP AND IT RUNS FINE? IT DID THIS A LONG TIME AGO AND THEN QUIT NOW IT HAS DONE IT TWICE TODAY. ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT MIGHT BE? I HOPE IT IS MINOR.

    When I first converted this truck over to LS1 I had the same problem and that was what it was, Throttle Position Sensor took a crap. Replaced it and 10k later no problems. It may not be your truck's issue but it sure was mine.

    I have an extra one. I will take it to Allens when we do the converter swap. Or can I put it in with out calibrating it?

    no calibration required. bolt it in, turn on the key, run the throttle slowly from full close to full open about 4 times and all is good. Turn off and start truck.

    Before Installing any Sensor, some say is wise to diconect the negative terminarl from the battery.

    Just a minor precaution wont hurt anybody...will it?
