I will try to keep this short.....

Got in my truck and haeded to the bank. After getting some cash i pull out of the parking lot on to a 45 mph 4 lane road. As I WOT to get next to a nice black caddy I hear the engine squeeeeeel bad. I am at 45 fast and then it feels like the steering pump is not working. THe squeeling continues but then it quits as I let off the pedal and manually turn into a 7-11.....

I shut off the engine and open the hood. I look at the belt that is just sitting on the pulleys loose. I spin the water pump, the alternator, the power steering pump and test the tension on the A/C belt. I am thinking Da%^ Engine.... What am I going to do???? I pull on the tensioner pulley and it is not moving up or right or left, up or down.... I put the belt in position and smack the front of the tensioner.... it moves out to the tensioning position and hte truck starts right up....

What a relief, no problems. Has anyone ever had the tensioner pulley lock in the no tension position just from shifting from first to second?

I had the entire tensioner assembly fall apart on my 97 Astro.

Good to hear it wasn't bad. Sounds like you need to replace that thing??
