Hi dudes,

Does anybody knows by telling or experience if a stock botom will handle 200 or 250HP of NOS?

I read in LS1 forums that Camaros, Firebirds and corvettes handle 200 on regular basis.

    Thanks in advance

If it won't, that just gives you an excuse to build a bigger stronger engine. Maybe if you break it, you can get a forged 402 short block to take the little engine's place after it grenades. Carnage is cool.

The shock of the extra 200+ HP all at once is what would break it. Now, a two stage kit shooting 100 HP then an addition 150 HP might survive a little better since the additional torque shock would come in stages. Just my opinion. Turbo or supercharge that thing for safer HP gains if you're worried about breaking the engine. Personally I like the excuse for replacing with a bigger badder forged engine. NOS is how I got the LS6/LS2 heads on my engine.

Parential advisory. I'm going to the 4 letter "F" word. If that offends you do not read this post.

I used to have a 89 Ford (shame on me for cursing) Mustang with a stock 5.0 with all of the bolt-ons and ran a 200 wet shot on it for a long time. It loved it. I did replace the fuel pump to make sure that it didn't lean out and went back to the stock timing. I once drove it 60 miles to the track with the AC blowing cold and a set of BFG drag radials, turned off the the AC, dropped the tire pressure and it ran a 7.90 @ 89.4 in the 1/8th.

2011 Silverado LT 5.3 bone stock (for now)

    I know, I know

On the other side of the coin, I had less than $6k in that car when I got rid of it and it was a dependable car. It would have run low 12's in the quarter and I figure that with a cam swap I could have got a high 11 out of it.

The mods were 3.73's, long tubes, off-road exhaust, underdrive pullies, CAI, drag radials, Koni adjustable drag struts, e-fan, line lock, hurst shifter, and a Compucar nitrous kit.

For that matter a Camaro SS 69, I have one. Small block in the low 11 w/o NOS, 175HP NOS shot havent used.

    And the cam is 234/234 510 510. 106

My truck has a higher Cam.

Ok, I know 200-250HP shot will make my truck faster. around low 12.

I looked at the progresive system for NOS. Sounds nice. Anyone have tried one?
