in my reg cab ive got one of the boxes that is fully enclosed and goes across the back of both seats, and i was wondering if i would be able to cut it into two, so i could put the amp behind the middle seat? any ideas?

If your box is ported you can put the amp inside the box.

another thing is that the more space you have the better sound you'll get. (remember that when your cutting) If you do cut though, make sure you seal it off really really good!! Where is the amp now? How much room is between the box and the back of the cab? Probably not much.

yeah i know what you mean about more space. but i think that the box might already be sealed, but its just made into ONE big box so they wont move around im guessing. but the amp is located under my driver seat right now, and i want to get it into some more air so it can cool off easier and not over heat.

plus i wanted to find like a zipper back that would strap to the back of the middle seat, so i can put like my haynes silverado book in it and like a few wrenches and such.

it sucks that i dont have the ls version of the regcab because then that middle seat could fold and move forward and such. but it doesnt, its stationary

If you go to the Manufactures website of the Subs that yuou are using, it has the recomemded box space. If you have the subs in too small of a box they wont hit the low notes good at all. I.E. they will bottom out. What kind of subs do you have in there? If you dont have any I have 2 monster Kicker Solobaric L7 12's for sale. But I do not think your box will be deep enouugh. Just remember when you do cut the box. To get the box air space by LxWxH on the inside of the box, and to seal it off I usually use any type of silicon. I prefer black or white, not clear, just because you can see it and you are 100% sure you have enough. You can never put too much on, you dont want a leak in your box. And if you dont want to go through the hassel of relocating your amp. You could consider buying a Class D amplifier. Air or no Air they virtually will not over heat bacause the way the cicuitry is designed in them. Let me know if you have nay questions and good Luck!

If the box is too small you can put dacron inside of it to fool the woofer into thinking it's in a larger space than it really is in.

ive got two kicker comp 12", squirrel gave me good advice, which was to take out one of the subs, see if its ported, and if it is, go ahead and cut the middle of the box to try and get my amp to fit in the middle.

just take your hand and puch down on the sub. If the sub sucks down and is slow to come up then it is sealed if it comes up free then it is ported. Odds are is it is sealled because a ported box requires twice the airspace. GL man.
