Since lowering my 1996 Sierra, I need to update the stock 15 inches wheels with at least 17s. I know that the 95 and 96 Impala SS wheels have the same bolt pattern, but have seen some trucks with Corvette wheels. I thought the Corvette wheel had the small bolt pattern, like the S-10. What GM wheels would fit but still clear the lowered front suspension. Thanks for any help.

I have the 18's off of a 1998-2000 Corvette. It took adapters to make them fit due to the 4.75" bolt circle but I needed the offset anyway. 1.75" adapters up front and 2.00" on the rear work best with the 18's BTW. Click on my MIA button to see chrome vette wagon wheels on my 92 xcab.

Ok not trying to knock or offend anyone but I have found sometimes it is less expesive to just by new wheels that fit than mess with all that. But if you are set on that wheel you can get adapters. I myself am not fond of adapters. IF you have to have them you could have your rotors and axles drilled for that. But dont just jump out with the Drill from the garage. If it is not done right you will have serious problems. It can be dangerous for you and other ppl on the road. There are styles out there now like the vette. You just have to look around. Plus you could get them with the back spacing you need or want.

Don't buy adapters from just anyone. Make sure they carry a product liability insurance policy. MotorsportsTechnologies.com carries one and stands behind their products. One reason I did the adapters is because of cost and style. $165 for the adapters and $400 for the chrome 18x9.5" wheels made life affordable. I wanted something different and that's definitely what I got. I get owners of custom wheel shops asking me quite often where I got the wheels.

As for dangerous to others, anyone that puts oversize wheels on their vehicles and doesn't improve their brakes is a much larger liability to the motoring public.

I agree. Make sure everything is quality. I just have seen so many dangerous vehicles out there. When I work on things I look at it this way, what if my daughter is with me and it fails because of something i did i could not forgive myself. So it keeps me on my toes. By the way no offense ment.

None taken, just wanted people to know that just because tire companies like Discount Tire won't work on vehicles with adapters doesn't necessarily mean that there is anything wrong with adapters. Just remember to always make modifications to your vehicle thinking of others in addition to yourselves. If you make it go faster, be sure you can stop it in a hurry afterwards. Don't find yourself in the sandtrap at the end of the strip because your brakes were made for 80 mph max.

Thanks for all the info. and advice. I will eventually have to bite the bullet and upgrade to 17's so the info provided will be taken into consideration. Later

I've got 17 X 9.5's on the front and 17 X 11's on the rear. Just remember if you put 2" drop spindles on the front you'll be safe with an 8.5" wide. If you go wider, depending on the offset you'll have to grind or replace the control arms. I like everything inside the fender wells so I ground quite about off the upper and lower arms but welded plate across the bottom and radiused them for the lower ball joints.

Yeah, here too. Nothing that a cutoff blade on a 4.5" grinder won't fix.

Otherwise you will destroy a wider wheel when trying to tuck them under the fenders.
